PSI Launches First Ever WebSlam
Jamaican Flag When the Jamaica Tourist Board and the Calabash International Literary Festival approached PSI Executive Director Steve Marsh near the beginning of March to see if there was a way for the three organizations to partner in a contest that would bring Slam Poets to the famous South Shore festival, he was ecstatic about the happy convergence of  the new PSI website overhaul and this opportunity. Here was a chance for the proverbial win-win for all three organizations…and ultimately for all the fans of Poetry Slam who visit the poetryslam.com website.

So here we are! To celebrate the launch of the new PSI website and to bring awareness to our new ability to offer and download video, PSI is proud to partner with The Jamaica Tourist Board and the Calabash International Literary Festival to bring you the first ever PSI/Calabash International Literary Festival Web Slam.

The Calabash International Literary Festival is the largest literary festival in Jamaica drawing its talent from all over the world. It is interested in expanding its worldwide audience to its free event. One way to do that is to reach out to new communities who haven’t been deeply involved in the past. Enter, Poetry Slam, Inc.

And so, thanks to our new friends in Jamaica, two lucky poets will win trips for two for four days and three nights to see, play, perform and celebrate all things literary on the island nation at the end of May. No entry fees, no travel expenses, no hotel bills.

All visitors to the PSI website can play along at home too. Click on the Calabash International Literary Festival Contest button on the main menu. Watch the videos (these are full resolution for your iPod or Apple TV and they are downloadable for FREE) then vote for your favorite. That’s it. What could be easier? Now everyone wins. Calabash gets our top two champions at the festival, the poets get a free trip to Jamaica and you get top quality poetry downloads for your iPod. How good a deal is that for everyone involved? So play along at home and, please, enjoy. It's right over there as the last item on the Main Menu. Click that button...no, really, right now.

Starting sometime next month, all new members of PSI can expect a little "extra" something in their membership package. Thanks to Brad Erlandson of www.8bliss.com each new member will receive a free copy of his spoken word CD. The CD is GÇ£A Train of EventsGÇ¥ by 8.bliss and will be sent free. There are a limited number of these CDs, but they will continue to be real "value added" to a PSI membership for a while.

PSI thanks Brad for his generosity.
