WORLD PREMIERE OF SLAM PLANET TO SCREEN MARCH 12 AT SXSW
WHAT:

Slam Planet, the feature-length documentary on poetry slam from Austin-based production companies Mythos Studios and Slam Channel, in association with Gold Glove Productions, makes its world premiere with three screenings at the 2006 SXSW Film Festival.

The film, which follows the Austin and New York-Urbana slam teams competing in the 2004 National Poetry Slam in St. Louis, had a journey every bit as dramatic as the film itself. A January 2004 three-alarm fire at AustinGÇÖs Guadalupe Arts Center gutted the Slam Planet editing suite, and computers and drives housing much of the documentaryGÇÖs edited footage were initially feared unsalvageable. But through extensive data recovery efforts and a remarkable rallying effort by AustinGÇÖs arts community, the footage was saved, and the movie was completed in time for acceptance to one of the nationGÇÖs premiere film festivals.

Slam Planet is represented by Endeavor, one of the top talent agencies in Los Angeles.

WHEN:

Screenings are scheduled for Sunday, March 12, 10:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, noon; Saturday, March 18, 1:30 p.m.

WHERE:

All screenings are at the Alamo Drafthouse South, 1120 S. Lamar, Austin, TX 78704
