Lisa King Memorial set for May 28 at Cantab, Boston
Received as an e-mail at poetryslam.com this morning.

Hi People,

Just an informal note to let people know that the Lisa King Memorial Event (content is still to be determined, but is guaranteed to do Lisa as much justice as it is humanly possible to coordinate in two months) will take place on Sunday, May 28 (on Memorial Day weekend!) at The Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, MA.

This notice is going out now to give people who want to come in from out of town as much notice as possible for making travel arrangements, but we'll still need to send out another notice when the event time frame and schedule is set in early May.

Please forward this to anyone and everyone that you think might be interested, and feel free to post/announce the date and location (which are the only things formally confirmed at this point) anywhere and everywhere on the internet or the real world.

For fairly regular general updates on the event, and any other Lisa King related news, please continue to check the Truth Serum page(http://www.truthserum.org/lisaking ) and for more information about the Cantab Lounge and why it was chosen for this event, please see http://www.cantab-lounge.com/ and http://www.slamnews.com/cantab/about.html.

Also, if you're interested in participating in the day's events (performing, reading, screening something, saying something, volunteering, hosting out-of-towners, etc.) and haven't done so already, contact us as soon as possible at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will be sending out a call to potential participants in the very near future, but you need to let us know if you want to receive it. We will also leave some time in the event schedule for impromptu public expression. That's it for now, except that we look forward to seeing you all on May 28 and to say a giant THANK YOU to Michael and the Cantab Lounge for their support in this.

Much Love,The Lisa King Memorial Event Planning Committee(or whatever you want to call it)

''Growing Up Girl'' debuts April 2006
After six long months of collection, editing and finalization, GirlChild Press has released its first product, aptly titled Growing Up Girl: An Anthology of Voices from Marginalized Spaces.

Ladies ranging from girl to woman from Seattle to the Philippines and everywhere in between have submitted poetry, essays, and short stories , telling tales of the transition from girl to woman. Some funny. Many bittersweet. All authentic.

The anthology will feature contributors ranging in age from 14 to 59 (including PSI's own Kimberley Jane Simms of the EC and 2004 NPS Individual Champion, Sonya Renee) including works from emerging writers alongside seasoned veterans. These diverse voices will provide a rich blend of stories and viewpoints.

Pre-order your copy of "Growing Up Girl" by visit www.girlchildpress.com and you will receive a $3 discount and free shipping and handling.

And if you happen to see Sonya Renee, Kimberly Simms or ANY of the women who have contributed to this wonderful project, please congratulate them!
