Marc Bamuthi Joseph wins Doris Duke Foundation Award!

National Poetry Month brings better news every day! Dahled let us know that veteran poet and Slammaster Marc Bamuthi Joseph has been awarded the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Award.

Marc is a National Poetry Slam Champion (Team San Francisco - 1999), Slammaster, YouthSpeaks co-founder, Def Poet, artistic director for HBO's Brave New Voices series, and brilliant multidisciplinary artist.

Joseph is one of 21 recipients working in jazz, theater, and contemporary dance to become the nation's first class of Doris Duke Artists, sharing a total of $5.775 million.
