NPS 2003 is in the Books
More than 1100 cheering audience members watched Mike McGee from San Jose win the individual National Poetry Slam title Friday night at the Metro. In three rounds of sudden death elimination, McGee topped a field of the ten best to emerge as the National Champion.
And nearly 1500 people witnessed team Los Angeles prevail for the team title at the Skyline Theater on historic Navy Pier. The Nuyorican placed second. Austin came in third and team Oakland finished fourth in a team finals which was capped with fireworks over Lake Michigan.
