What Is Necromancer?
-------------------
Necromancer is a 3 day performance poetry festival held in Phoenix in October. Started in 2006, the Festival provides cash prizes to poets that perform in a series of poetry slams and earn their way to a Finals.
Typically, as all of the poetry slams happen at night, there are daytime events that add to the fun and exuberance of the event.

When Is The Show?

This show will happen October 17-19, 2007
10/17- Preliminary Night 1: Start 7PM (All Venues)
Preliminary Night #1: As many as six preliminary rounds across 3 venues, depending on the number of competitors. Each preliminary round to have as many as 10 poets. Each venue will host two preliminary shows each night, one at 7PM and one at 9PM.
10/18- Preliminary Night 2: Start 7PM (All Venues)
Preliminary Night #2: As many as six preliminary rounds across 3 venues, depending on the number of competitors. Each preliminary round to have as many as 10 poets. Each venue will host two preliminary shows each night, one at 7PM and one at 9PM.
10/19- Finals Night: 8PM (Paper Heart)
Finals Night: The top 10 poets, based on rank and score, will advance to the finals.

How do Poets Register to compete?

Poets that would like to register may do so by clicking above, which will take you to the Anthology Gift Ship page for registration. Fill out the information, and submit your paypal payment, and the first 60 poets will be considered registered and have a place reserved for the competition.

Tell Me About Format and Rules.
----------------------------
Anyone, regardless of experience, is encouraged to register and compete.
Each poem should be original work.
Competitors will not be allowed to repeat a poem in any competition during the three days. To win, a poet should have nine poems to read.
No props, costumes or nudity (g'heh).
Each performance has a 3 minute time limit.
Each slam has three rounds, with all competitors reading in each round.
5 judges are chosen and score each performance (1 to 10), with the lowest and highest score for each performance being dropped.
On-page work is NOT discouraged.

Well, YOU for one. Any poet, from anywhere is welcome to come and compete for the cash and prizes.
Where Are the Preliminaries?
The Jewel of the Grand Avenue Art Scene, The Paper Heart, will serve as the centerpiece for this tremendous event.
Preliminary events will be at The Paper Heart, The Fair Trade Cafe and a third location.

The Queen of Hospitality, and host of the Phoenix Slam at Zoe's Kitchen, Arrian Wissell, is working on that right now.
Who's Running This?
Arrian Wissel is currently the co-host of the Phoenix Poetry Slam held at Zoe’s café each month along with Jeremiah Blue.
Jeremiah Blue is the founder of The Downtown Slam, to be held at The Fair Trade Café.
Bob Nelson is the co-founder of Anthology, inc., the Essenzaslam Poetry Slam and has organized poetry events in the valley since 1994. He currently hosts The Greater Phoenix Poetry Slam at The Paper Heart each month as well as The Chyro Poetry Slam at The Chyro Arts Venue.
