This is Michael Guinn- Fort Worth Slam Master.
I agree with everything that's being said and i apologize for my flyer decision at St. Louis, being the reason that we are having this discussion.
To Dufflyn, whom I've called and spoken with already, I felt terrible, if onoy you knew how much and again, I apologize.
To the slam family whom already know how unhappy I am that my actions added to an already crazy sitaution in St. Louis , i apologized again.
To the PC and EC who now have to utilize precious time fielding questions because of MY actions. I apologize.
Most of all, i wish to apologize for the damage my actions had on the integrity of that night's bout at NPS 04.
As I've stated before.. and on several other occasions, I take/took full responsibility for my actions with regard to the flyers this past NPS.
Plain and simple.. I was wrong.
I accept and respect punishment for my lack of judgement on that ONE occasion.
There has never been an problem in the three years that Team Fort Worth's has been coming to NPS where our artistic creditability or competitive integrity were EVER questioned. And there will NEVER be again.
I had a responsibility to be the leader for not only my team but an example for the other team members especially some of those first timers and i failed miserably. I realize this now.
I'll forever have to live with how 'MY" actions alone affected Los Feliz and those other teams in that particular bout and can only look forward to the rule changes from this unfortunate incident as the only positive thing that came out this nationals. My team's spirit was crushed, our pride and self esteem deflated and our hearts cry out and continue to cry out to the other poets in that bout whom were affected by this.
Everybody knows that Team Fort Worth was penalized, 6 points for the flyer infraction. And recieved a 1 year probation for the Honor code violation.
For whatever weak excuse I made for why i did what "I" decided do then. ... i've apologized and I promised that Team Fort Worth will not be involved in/nor will they be the reason why an bout's integrity is questioned again.
I have a good bunch of people/poets/PSI Supporters here in Fort Worth and they've never condoned nor would they have ever condoned any dishonorable behavior from me as a representative of them in anyway, had they known that my actions would be considered as such.
Fort Worth has been nothing but fair in any nationals and remains eager to add to the success of any PSI sponsored event.
And will continue to do so. More now than ever.
I agree that having the "No Publicity Rule" takes care of any future issues like last NPS. Which should also include handing out buttons, or any thing that directly falls under "influencing the audience".
If there is anything else i can do to help the healing, bind the ties, rebuild trust, or simply restore any loss integrity, please feel free to call me, email me, and let me know.
I'm right here and I'm ready to face my only mistake in any competition.
I'll do anything to help make this a better PSI.
Again.. I'm sorry... please forgive me...
See ya in April and at NM. NPS 05'
Repectfully,
