Scott Woods Parent was born at 5:30PM MST.  We were concerned that he wasn't crying, but as soon as we handed him a piece of paper with "Waaah!" written on it, he piped right up.  True to his namesake!

Just kidding.  Jonah Kai Parent is 8lbs 8 oz and 21.5 inches.  We had a home birth and mom and baby are just doing great.

Expect more fatherhood poems.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! And thank you for not naming him Scott Woods Parent. One Scott Woods is more than the world was ready for.

A semi-local (as in my locality, not that o' Charlotte) suggestion:

TriFlava - group of cats from the District that blend every possible instrument into their body of work. Always sells out local shows.  Played up at SlamNuba a while back (so talk to Suzi Q about them...tell her they played w/ Droopy). Two of the members also have ties to the youth slam teams that went to Brave New Voices, so they know how we slam poets do.

I'd suggest throwing them into a mix of local bands of all genres and make it a showcase type o' concert.

Big Names:

The Roots
Sage Francis
Ani
Esthero
Erykah Badu
A Black Lily Reunion would be LOVELY (JazziPhatNastees, Roots, Jaguar Wright, Kindred, The Roots...alladem n' dey mammas)

Wow.  Thank you, Jared. That's a lot to process, well worth the end point.

The comments are where you'll find the ... poet-tray...and several laughs/giggles and people who are fans of Basho.

PSi Bylaws Discussion / Re: Agenda Items or Propsals????
« on: March 07, 2008, 01:47:59 PM »
While I'm sure this is encouraged, proposals presented would be for discussion only at that point, Said (if memory serves).

Not correcting, just clarifying and/or inquiring as to make sure this is clearly understood for all parties interested pursuing bylaw changes (and/or recommendations for them).

Thanks for the proactive reminder, Said!!! Much appreciated.  8)

hehehe

it's the midwest cabal's regional competition (just like SW Shootout - for the SW, Southern Fried for SE, big Noreaster for New England, and I think Big Sur is sort of similar as well...).  it was quite fun when dc/baltimore went this past summer.

General Discussion / Re: Venue Certification/Registration?
« on: December 21, 2007, 11:57:42 AM »
Oh also If I send my evidence, money, and application for Venue certification before December 31,2007

Will we be able to attend World of Women,Nationals, and IWPS in 2008?

WOWps - don't think so
NPS - if you come to the SM meeting, complete your 2W&YI (and win so you're guaranteed a spot on the list vs. 2 losses and waitlisting), most likely
iWPS - you have to have attended the August SM meeting if memory serves (Steve can you or Scott verify)?
