General Discussion / Re: Zeroing Votes Out
« on: January 12, 2012, 09:02:03 AM »
I can't make assumption that it was a competitor that was doing the improper voting, as there is no evidence that is the case. There is no evidence any competitor even knew of the voting improprieties.

I don't think anyone would claim this is a "good" outcome. I believe though that it is the "least bad" outcome.

I'm very sorry this happened. I take full responsibility, and I won't let it happen again.

I am really embarrassed. That was my spelling error, and I am mortified by it. I apologize.

Its fixed on www.poetryslam.com. Perhaps Abby can update the Facebook callouts.

A request:  can someone PLEASE change the name of the video slam to reflect the correct spelling of Brenda MOOSSY's name?  I think it's terrific that she is being honored this way; I think it's important to spell her name correctly.

While I am impressed with your abstract style, we believe you are not yet ready for featuring in Knoxville.

This made me laugh so much, I'm going to leave the spam so other people can enjoy it. (Spammer is still banned though!)

Why don't you write up a description of the service, that will live in an Announcement thread on top of the forum.  Write about the concept in an instructional way. Don't worry about the technical parts, just stay conceptual. Who should post a listing? What information should be in each post? That type of thing. If you want, post it in this thread and we will edit, or you can send it to me back channel.

Adding mods to Drupal is pretty easy (and my.poetryslam.com is the alpha release for the next poetryslam.com). The issue is user management and access control. Moving the user accounts along with their membership status is a challenge. I'll get it done, but its taking some time, and I'd like to get this off the ground quicker.

I can make a new section of the forum that allows any member to post a thread in, and only the original poster can comment in the threads. Thread starters will also be able to edit and delete their threads.

If its publicly readable, we might be able to pull the RSS feed into the Facebook page, making it much more visible in the community.

How would that be for a start? Hopefully I will have the new CMS ready by the time this takes off.

In the IT field it is in vogue to create requirements by telling a "User story", a brief description about how a consumer of the tech would use it. It helps non-technicals describe requirements to developers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_story. Check this out.

Are there two different spaces? One for "I have this skill..." and a second for "I need this skill..."?

Off topic, I knew the forum was cluttered and ugly, I didn't know it seemed "elite". I have learned something important.

General Discussion / Re: Question about NPS DVD's
« on: August 19, 2011, 12:11:48 PM »
Prior to NPS 2002,  PSi  didn't take a strong role in handling video. There was (and still is) a rights dispute between the videographer for NPS 2001 and PSi that is not likely to ever be resolved. The video from that event is still in the hands of the other party. None of the video has ever been released.

After that happened, PSi organizers, specifically Steve, took a much more active role in securing video at our events. Eventually this resulted in Gabrielle coordinating contracts and shooters agreements. Now Taz handles all the video for us, using videographers from the slam family.

This is pre-spam. An "SEO" company intern checking to see if our forum allows posting links. They presumably discovered that we don't, and hopefully took a moment of reflection to contemplate the choices they have made in life, and then decided to change careers.
