Dear Mississippi,

Hope you and the day are doin' right by each other. Name's Buddy. Good to meet y'all.

I'm on my last major national solo tour ("Gentleman Practice") after a decade of perpetual touring.

Mississippi is of the last three states in which I've not performed (alongside Montana and North Dakota).

On exactly March 7, 2011 I'm coming right through y'all's neck of woods and would be tickled as all get out to finally make a tour stop in Mississippi. I've got

If there is a gallery, venue, book store, wide open field, and you're at all interested, I simply wish to perform in Mississippi before it's all said and done, boss. Might you point me in the right direction of someone who might like to host and help make this happen? I'd be honored and most thankful.

www.buddywakefield.com is excruciatingly easy to navigate for more info/bio/samples/photos...

As well, on the site, there is a link above the Flash graphics on the homepage which leads to a poster of this tour, and press release. I will work to book Mississippi with much flexibility, so just contact me directly buddy@buddywakefield.com and disregard the contract/rider at the moment.

Thank you for your time.

Best Foot Forward,
Buddy

General Discussion / Buddy Wakefield - 2011 National Solo Tour
« on: October 23, 2010, 01:38:05 AM »
Dear Y'all,

If I may...

Now booking all states.
Let’s keep it personal:
Contact buddy@buddywakefield.com for date options & details.

I’m amped as all get out for the upcoming release of “Gentleman Practice.”
It’ll be on Write Bloody Publishing and I’ll tour the pants off it January-May 2011.
One last national go ’round from a car for all the marbles....
While this tour is aimed at college venues, I'm also lookin’ forward to visiting old friends who were there in the beginning;
do some gallery, theater, high school and independently organized shows.

Thanks for understanding that this tour is very much a last hoorah of sorts as I save to put a down payment on a home
and get off the road to write a larger impacting work. I mean no disrespect in declining $100 Slam features, or in stating a minimum
more than what you might pay other features. I'm throwing this out there to the organizers who'd be stoked to help make a good solo show happen on an off night, or college organizers involved with this forum.

Am nonstop on tour with Derrick, Anis and The Revival at the moment so may be slow to the response, but am no doubt happy to tour the whole U.S. January through May. I already have a route loosely mapped out so, organizers, please write and let’s see if it works for you.

Holler with a venue in mind and we’ll go from there regarding budget and details.
I appreciate the encouragement of "Come to [insert city]!" but please only email with solid interest/offers to make a show happen.

Safe to say I’m pretty excited about goin’ for it one more time.

Ready,
Buddy

General Discussion / Feature Opportunity
« on: May 08, 2010, 01:06:16 PM »
Hi All,

Please contact buddy@buddywakefield.com if you're available on any of the following dates to feature for 30 minutes at a college in upstate New York (about 3.5 hours from the city; all shows at 8pm):

Aug. 25
Sep. 8
Sep. 22
Oct. 13
Oct. 27

Pay is $400 plus lodging. That's it. No travel.
Let me know all of the dates you'd be available for.
If you know I don't know you or your work please put me in contact with someone I know who does.
Do not send poems.
Experience required.

Do not take it personally if I don't respond at your pace, or you don't get the job.
I won't know who was selected till late June.

Respectfully,
Buddy

HBO's Def Poetry Jam), Buddy Wakefield (2-time Individual World Poetry
Slam Champion; released on Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records), and
internationally recognized rotating fourth members bring you our most
impacting celebration of humans and humor yet:

The Night Kite Revival World Tour of America, 2010!
Booking late September through early November.

It's the ultimate uplift spoken word party experience. Tested and
proven from the backrooms of bars and the coffeehouses of colleges,
all the way out to House of Blues New Orleans, CBGB's, Scotland's Oran

If interested in booking the most energetic, innovative and thoughtful
verbal circus on the planet see www.thepoetryrevival.com.

To speak with a real live human and have your questions answered as soon as possible,
feel comfortable contacting me directly, or pointing a helpin' finger in the right direction.
Thank you for your time, energy and consideration.

Please take note that this tour is the bulk of our annual  bread and butter, so we're unable
to commit to Slam venues and pass-the-hat readings during this time. This particular announcement
is geared toward poetry venues and organizers who are funded or confident in their organizational efforts
to make the show well worth our travelin' while. Also, we're a full roster and not lookin' to take
any extra folks with us in the van.

Thank you for letting me post this in the forum.

100%,
Buddy Wakefield
buddy@buddywakefield.com

P.S. I've been sending Gabrielle video and voice messages, hoping someone is receiving them and sharing them with her.
If anyone knows the a proper number to use, or if you can confirm that calling her normal cell number is okay, I'd sure be thankful.

Hey Y'all, I'm gonna keep my excitement to a minimum herein 'cause I'm not sure if it's overstepping bounds to shamelessly promote herein, but I sure did accomplish somethin' I'm real proud of and wanna get the word out...

Ani DiFranco's record label, Righteous Babe Records, is putting out my new CD.
The release date is October 13th. Copies are for sale on buddywakefield.com NOW
and may be mailed out as early as September 15th.

I frankly want the whole world to know, but leery of too much self-promotion on this list
considering what would happen if everybody did it.
I'm hopin' none of you sensitive word mongers blow a gasket out yer mouthbutts about it.
Mouthbutt... that's right.

There's a mailing list on buddywakefield.com, and I'd love it if ya signed up so I could also keep ya posted regarding the Elephant Engine High Dive Revival Tour with Anis Mojgani, Derrick Brown, Shira Erlichman, Mike McGee, Robbie Q, Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, Shappy, Andrea Gibson...

With Respect, Buttford

You freaking rock, Sir. And THANK YOU! And I owe ya one.

P.S. I don't think Steve would ever snark at me. He loves me way too much. If I could have chosen my own father, it would have been him. No, I would have chosen Gregory Peck, but I would have no doubt considered Steve for #1 sister. Best warm hugs in the whole world when he's not cursing. I owe you too Steve!

Eric, thank you!

Steve, why are you quoting my mother? And did you get the licensing check? And why haven't you signed the adoption papers?

If the video is a direct rip from a PSi DVD, then its infringing on our copyright (PSI owns copyright on the video, not the piece), and we can have it removed that way. Are you sure you want to do that?

I'm absolutely sure I wanna do that, Boss. Thank you.
The flagging doesn't seem to be working, and only y'all are allowed to deal with the copyright issue.
Would be glad to do a return favor.
Many Thanks, Bud

Hey Buddy -

I flagged the video as inappropriate, which I would ordinarily never do, but thought maybe if the user won't respond, Youtube will.  I explained in my note that the artist had requested its removal, and that the user was not compliant, and offered a line from the poem that Youtube might categorize as reason enough to take it down.

Hope it works out!

~Dane

Oooo, Dane, THANK YOU. Great idea. Appreciate the help.
