With the additional poets, will there be an additional Finals night spot, or how will the bout structure change, or will it remain the same?

The list is beautiful.Thank you for all the hard work with herding the cats & thanks in advance for the work ahead.
We are going to have one FINE, BADASS time!

Hm.
Depending on how many beds we have & whatnot, we might have space in our room.Or there's another location a second set of folks are looking into that's cheaper and I'll try to relate what they find.

Did you talk to Trina? If you call the hotel directly and talk to her, that should do it.Though when I booked yesterday, she made it sound like there are only smoking rooms left and that they were running low.I didn't even bother to specify for two beds~oopsah! (notes location of sleeping bags).
There must be secondary hotels nearby. Even the cheap rate adds up after 4 days. Then there's...always floor surfing...

I have a couple of poets down here who would be interested. Fall's crazy, but  I'll pass it on.

Sept. 22nd is the next mic I operate & we're already organizing it as a fundraiser,so I'd like to include these poets as beneficiaries~~the donation probably won't be huge, but it will be from a good home.

News is so disheartening.

Bleck.

On the lighter side, though, protesting the Inauguration will be fun.
NOON on Jan. 20th, where will you be? They're spending 40 MILLION DOLLARS on this self agrandizing *)(@#$_$Y&_

~breathe~

and lower on the totem pole of self-agrandizment,
post protest

the noise against fascism show looks like a great way to let off steam, too.

What an incomplete post that last one was.I'm so sorry.
Okay, so, if you're in DC in January, between the 19th and the 23rd.,MotherTongue is hosting their monthly mic on the 19th, with female features from the Inaugurate This! pool. In the more the merrier philosophy, slots will probably be 5-7 minutes. Then, the next night, January 20th, there will be bands, groups, and more poets performing at the Black Cat for Inaugurate This!, with the event kicking off around 7.Bands and groups will probably have longer sets than individuals, but the main point is for activist poet performers from different places to network and feel some  love & support, and also to publicize activist groups and activities.
We're also trying to get a workshop space for Saturday lined up for strategic planning.
So, this is something to do if you're in DC to F*#%! S*%~! Up in January.

We've sent out the fishing rod & there might be some spaces left as we wait for confirmations.(Jared, I have you down already).

Inaugurate This!
spoken word, performance poetry, and a little music and noise
will happen to raise our discontent and find each other & help us network.

General Discussion / Let's forget about the internationalism of slam
« on: November 22, 2004, 03:48:59 PM »
I don't know of awareness from over here of events going on from over there. What networks of venue contacts can we make? I know Berlin has the slam with roses at the end. Is that still happening? I wouldn't even know about that if I wasn't trying to keep up with a friend over there.

Taylor Mali is touring places in France & Ireland. We should ask him to deliver the goods on the scenes and venues over there, since most of us aren't that well known and freewheeling.

There are a bunch of art & word festivals in the UK, too, but I always find out about them after they've happened.

Maybe part of the issue is that it's hard enough for many to keep their own scene together, so it's really easy to be insular, in local venue, city, state, and region.
