How we picked our team for the Portland Poetry Slam
Portland Poetry Slam
@ Backspace (115 nw 5th ave, portland, or, 97209)
Every Sunday Night show starts @ 7:30
Slam season started the week after nationals this year.
We had a series of open qualifying slams (4 before every semi final) where top 2 advance to the semi.
We had 4 semi finals where the top 2 poets advanced from each semi final. Those 8 poets were automatically advanced into our finals.
We then had two last chance slams on 4/03/11 and 4/10/11 where the winner of each slam automatically enter finals.
on 4/17 we had our finals, 10 poets, the order was randomly selected for the first round, reversed for the second round. Those 2 scores were added cumulatively. top 6 advanced to the final round. The slate was wiped clean, and the poets went in order from lowest score to highest score. top 5 poets are the portland poetry slam team.
