Sometimes I miss things but I didn't see any post like this for this season. Check out http://dannystrack.tripod.com/pictures/promotion/NPS_Scouting_2011.pdf for the list that Danny Strack has put together.

General Discussion / Sad news out of Chicago
« on: March 08, 2011, 01:14:05 AM »
Maria McCray, a Chicago performance poetry legend and slam veteren passed Tuesday afternooon. For those who are not familiar with Maria, she was affectionately known as "Momma", performed in 9 editions of the National Poetry Slam representing Chicago/Green Mill and Chicago/Berwyn. She last competed as a storm poet in Seattle '01 and has a cameo in SlamNation. Maria was a United States Marine, serving during the Vietnam War, occasionally under fire. Maria was a singer, actor, activist, drinking buddy and mentor to many, including myself. Check out her work on www.e-poets.net. I will bring some things to share to WOW this week. I already miss her like breathing.

self: what up?

billy: we know karen g, 6 is 9 and wonder dave are hijacking motorcycles with sidecars to be in charlotte, but who else is planning to come thru and hang/compete?

self: why don't you post a thingy about it on the PSI forum.... maybe some of the other kids will respond.

General Discussion / how's business?
« on: October 23, 2008, 03:32:50 PM »
turnout is on a bit of a downturn over the last few weeks around chicago and we are wondering if this is a local, regional or national phenomenon.

this week, 3rd week of october '08:
monday, mental graffiti, jack THE MAN mccarthy came thru but the crowd was such that there were only about 6-7 open mic'ers and 2 people- j.w. baz & me- in the slam.  zoiks! [hey! me and baz are qualified for finals in spring! woo hoo!]

tuesday, safe smiles with polyrhythmic... weekly, no slam, multimedia... we had a music/poetry feature and 9 people :O... we usually do at least 20-25.

wednesday, in one ear... weekly, no slam, multimedia, all ages... music feature, around 10 people.

no debates on TV, no really big must see TV events, decent fall weather... in chicago, even the artists like their sports but no bears on monday night, white sox and cubs are out of the post season and nobody gives a shit about the blackhawks except both of their season ticket hloders. what gives?

how are you all doing in your parts of the universe
