General Discussion / Financial Documents

I'm wondering how I can get a copy of PSi's financial documents, specifically the budget for the current fiscal year and a relatively recent balance sheet, and maybe last year's P&L.

I'm going to steal their thunder, but as of this month, Chicago has a NEW PSi-registered slam, Words That Kill!

Their website is here:

Touring poets take note: WTK is the third Thursday, so most months they fall in the same week as Mental Graffiti.

Hopefully Mojdeh and Greg will be around to introduce themselves soon.

Slam Selection Processes / Mental Graffiti Selection 2011
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:09:05 AM »
1)  There will be 7 monthly slams, September - March for points: 5 for 1st place, 3 for 2nd place, 1 for third place.

2)  Once you have 8 points, you are guaranteed a spot in finals, and you may NOT slam for the rest of the season.

3)  There will be a last chance slam in April, with the winner going to finals.  In order to slam in April, you must have slammed or read in an open mic at least twice during the season.

4)  The top 7 point earners and the winner of the April slam will participate in the finals, held in May.  The poets with the four highest scores will earn spots on the team.

5)  All slams follow the standard PSi rules: no props or costumes, 3-minute time limit, and original work.

General Discussion / Limerick Slam at NPS
« on: July 12, 2010, 12:59:17 PM »
Hi, all!  I am hosting a Limerick Slam at NPS.  This is the first time this has been an official event, and it will take place Wednesday night (after the bouts) at Wild Tymes.

Lots of people are asking how many Limericks they will need to compete, but I don't know until I see how many people sign up.  It will be limited to the first 16 participants, head-to-head style, so you'll need at least five (assuming the last round is best of three).  However, if there are only 8 participants, we'll make every round best of three, so you'd need at least six.  I recommend preparing at least five in advance, and then writing addition verse once you see your competition.

Here's the twist: we won't set up the brackets in advance. Instead, I will pull a poet from the hat, and that poet gets to challenge any other poet who has not yet read in that round. So, say you have a bunch of Limericks about Scott Woods, and I pull you name, you can make him get on stage and take your abuse.

There will be an awesome prize, and by awesome, I mean cheap.

If you have any questions, post them here and I will do my best to answer them.
