POETRY NEWS FLASH!!!!
The 2007 NATIONAL POETRY SLAM WAS A FLUKE / AND TEAMS GOT SCAMMED. CONGRATULATIONS.
CALLING ALL POETS: We need to stop the egotistical drama within our community and be assured that all teams get in fairly and compete fairly without politics involved! And that what happened to Tempe doesn't ever happen again.
FACT: The Tempe team was investigated for having a 'put-together team'.
FACT: The investigators came to the conclusion that Tempe WAS an official team and let us compete.
FACT: The Tempe team competed in TWO ROUNDS and placed 1st and 2nd and made the semi-finals in their 1st year.
FACT: A complaint was bought up by the '26th' place team (which ruins ALL validity because of their poisitioned motive) bringing up the same argument that Tempe was already cleared of.
RESULT: Tempe team then gets disqualified...........
Are you thinking to yourself..."wtf?
?"......
Don't worry......We all are.
So ask yourself this....
WHAT does that say about PSI??? This is bad for them!!!....I mean....this is REAL bad.......No matter what.....They lose either way....because of this:
If Tempe WAS a legitimate team....you just DESTROYED a year of hard work for a team that had every right to compete on that stage and PROVED themselves on a national level.
If Tempe WASN'T a legitimate team....You just corrupted the ENTIRE tournament...by allowing a false team to compete in the first 2 rounds, and messing it up for REAL teams who worked hard and 'deserved' to be there. ...Does that sound fair to all those teams who could've ranked higher?? Does that sound FAIR to the teams who didn't make it?? The entire bouts and order would've been completely different, as well as the results and the points.
No matter WHAT....PSI SCREWED OVER POETRY TEAMS THIS YEAR OFF A FALSE ACCUSATION WITH NO FACTS.
These are all facts!!!..........Now if you want to know the full story, read below....If not, at least you're aware that a bad call was made and teams DID get screwed over, no matter HOW you look at it...

Hello poetry community,
My name is Apollo and I'm from the Tempe team from Arizona. The team that had everyone going "Who the hell is Tempe and where'd they come from?"
This is my open letter to PSI and all the poets that are out there. First, I want to say THANK YOU to all the poets who showed love to us this entire week and supported us. It was great meeting you all and being inspired by your words.
This letter will be sent out to the 1 million people on my Myspace list and to all the online forums. This is a message that needs to be heard and a story that needs to be told. PSI.....you want some publicity??? Well, here's a million + of it....
If this letter serves any purpose, it will at least get all the members of PSI to analyze their rules and guidelines closer and will get poets to look inside themselves a little deeper. It is Friday, 5: 30 p.m...and I would've never guessed that I'd be sitting at my house in PHOENIX writing this letter, when I should still be in Austin either slamming or supporting. I paid a lot of money to fly back home sooner because I couldn't be around an organization that abanonded me, friends who betrayed me, and egotistical poets who had that much hatred inside themselves.
