Slam Selection Processes / Broken Speech Team Selection 2011
« on: November 27, 2010, 01:24:47 PM »
How do I make Team Orlando 2011?

Place 4th or better in the 2011 Broken Speech Grand Slam

How do I make it into the 2011 Broken Speech Grand Slam?

With our series going monthly starting in December, we're starting fresh.

To qualify for our Grand Slam, you'll need to place in the top three once during our monthly qualifying slams.

If we have more than one spot still available in the Grand Slam, we'll put them up for grabs at our Last Chance Slam, which will be held one week before the Grand Slam.

Who is not eligible to compete in the Grand Slam ?

Slammasters from other venues.

What is the playoff format?

Grand Slam: 10 poets/3 rounds/elimination every round.

Performance order for each round will be determined by random draw.

General Discussion / BNV vs NPS Question
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:46:19 AM »
I heard something that if a youth poet does BNV as a competitor, they cannot do NPS as a competitor.  Is this true?  I have a team member who might also be on a BNV team this year.

I'd love to be a workshopper on post-slam opportunities if this is up and running for 2010.

General Discussion / Dodging Traffic is now on sale!
« on: October 22, 2009, 10:12:32 AM »
Ampersand Books updated their store and Dodging Traffic is now on sale.  If you aren't going to make any of the releases in Orlando or you are out of town, this is your way to get a copy.  By purchasing it through Ampersand Books, you only pay $10 instead of the marked price of $12 + $2 shipping and handling.  Click http://www.ampersandreview.com/Dodging_Traffic_by_J._Bradley.html to purchase your copy of Dodging Traffic.

I'm incredibly proud to announce that my first book, Dodging Traffic, comes out October 23 through Ampersand Books and I'm doing some touring to support it.  For more info, check out iheartfailure.net.  For those in Atlanta, New Orleans, NYC, Richmond, St. Pete, see you soon.

Hey y'all

I will be in New Orleans at the Ampersand Books booth to promote my first full length collection, Dodging Traffic, this November.  I'll be in town for the 6-7 and I'm looking for places where I can try to feature on one of those days.  Anything you guys can assist with is greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / Re: no repeat rule

I think the varied time proposal may be a great way to shake things up and allow for a no-repeat rule to exist without argument.   I wanted the no-repeat to only apply to poems on finals stage (once you use it, you can never use it again), but that's me.

There's a possibility my wife won't be able to come with so I need a floor/couch to sleep on, preferably at the host hotel.  In exchange, I will gladly pay my share.  Backchannel me @ senryujournalist@gmail.com if you wanna help.  Thanks, y'all.

And Lo, the third of the Evil Trio will return and smite all nerds who dare think they are nerdier than thou!

Fun fact: Klute and I are the most vicious of Trivia Masters, even when we water the questions down.

So if we reserve through PSi, does that mean we have to pay for the room upfront?

Heh - now I have a summer project.

General Discussion / Slamming for money vs for fun/arts sake
« on: September 08, 2008, 12:21:29 PM »
Do you prefer slamming for money or slamming for the art?  What do you think are the pros and cons of slamming for money?  What do you think are the pros and cons of slamming for art/fun?
