Slam Selection Processes / NYC louderArts Slam Selection Process
« on: April 09, 2010, 11:32:26 AM »
We hold two three-round open slams per month, each consisting of 10 slammers.

The top 3 poets who make the final round of this slam earn points (3 for first, 2 for second, 1 for third.)

The poem used in the third round of an open slam cannot be repeated for the rest of the slam season until semi-finals.

You MUST have slammed at least three time and earned at least one point to get into semi-finals.

There are three four-round semi-finals bouts held, each with five slammers.

The top three from each semi-final  move onto our 3-round Final Slam/Team Selection at the end of the season.

The no poems from semi-finals may be repeated at finals.

General Discussion / Poetry, Wine and a Free Trip to New Zealand
« on: November 05, 2009, 11:27:20 AM »
Hey folks-
So Kim Crawford Winery has asked me to be an “Artist in Residence” for their on-line community, the Artist’s Lounge. It’s a place for people to post their own work, ideas that inspire them, or seek out collaborations.  This week, I will be picking one of the posts from the member’s forum to be turned into an original piece of art. What’s in it for you? If I pick your post, you get the art, some wine and a 1/6 chance of a free trip to New Zealand! Check it out:
http://www.experiencekimcrawford.com/theartistslounge

Go post something. I’ll be picking my first winner this Monday. There will be a new winner selected every week by one of the other Artists in Residence.

louderArts is having an online auction!

We're hoping that all over America folks will reach out and support poetry by trying on one of our fabulous auction items for size and taking home something that might just change their lives.

This year the auction offers the chance to snag some priceless opportunities, from oh say Patricia Smith or Patrick Rosal critiquing your poems, grant writing lessons, weekly writing prompts sent to you via email, website design, marketing consultation... stuff that poets all over the country could use to hone their craft and build their communities.

Visit www.louderarts.com to bid on items, by making a bid in the comments section.

For those in the New York area, swing by the house that poetry made on Monday, September 28th, where we will auction off the remaining items (and geographically bounded items) live.

Word to your words-
