If I may be allowed to speak for the entire Detroit team for a moment. i would like to say that having the chance to interact with so many creative people was truly a blessing. We had a team of mostly rookies, including myself, and the St. Louis fiasco could have easily discouraged us from coming back. Fortunately that did not happen. Because of a lot of positive energy from a lot of great people, i'm looking forward to 2005. I want to thank the teams that showed us love in club buca when we were pushing to make semis against a very talented San Jose team. I've only been doing this since this past march so i haven't been out of state alot yet but in the few places i have been there's been this weird negative vibe when i say i'm from Detroit. I didn't experience that at nationals and it felt great getting love from teams i respect so deeply like Kalamazoo and Columbus. Mike Swinkey and Ed Mabrey are great guys. More teams i need to shout out:
Oklahoma City & Nebreaska showed much respect, i'll be in touch.
Norfolk-Queen Sheba has the best energy in the world and 13 of Nazereth really affected me on a different level than any other poets i heard in St. Louis.
Maze also had a similar affect on me.
Shout out to Olivia and Cat. I've never had so much fun helping someone. It was our pleasure.
A big big Funk Master Flex sized shout out goes to two volunteers Poetry and Mocha. They showed extra love and Poetry actually helped us escape st. louis when the evil tow company damaged our car. she even treated us to lunch when we thought we'd be trapped another day. I swear St. Louis should just be fenced off to keep it from infecting the rest of the country. Any thanks to all poets in attendence for making St. Louis a blessing while so many other forces endeavored to make it a curse. Peace from Detroit!!
