What are the actual dates For NPS?

Just wondering when are the actual dates for NPS because BNV is august 7th -11th this year in chicago. That may clash with NPS and just wanted to know. Mike Guinn DFW Youth Slams and Fort Worth Slams....

Is not conflicting with BNV a priority? I know there is a lot of overlap here in Philly. Many poets who compete in our 'adult' slam, support, coach or attend youth slams and BNV.

I apologize for spreading rumors, that is why I said," I think its the 5th through the 10th", because I was under the impression that Nationals always begun the 1st Monday of the month through Saturday because some poets on teams are students and teachers and need to get back to prepare for school, to my understanding most schools across the country (not all) begin classes the 2nd and 3rd week of August.

Guys! Yes, we are aware of the conflict with BNV: they actually reached out to us directly, which is really cool. I also am aware that we traditionally run NPS in the first full week of August, in part because of conflicts for teachers; in the past, however, there has been a little flexibility in the tournament and we did run in the second full week of August back in 2011.

The dates of NPS are almost always contingent upon when a Finals venue will book us, and 2013 will be no different. We are working hard to secure an excellent Finals venue for NPS 2013, but we just aren't comfortable posting official dates until we are sure our venue is ready to contract.

Is there any chance of pushing NPS up to the last week in July-first half week of August, prior to BNV?

Karen, that seems unlikely: most of our target Finals venues are collegiate spaces, and summer sessions that use theater and music spaces will be holding their final productions around then.

We are shooting for the week after BNV if at all possible, but cannot guarantee that venues will work with us for those dates. Again, I'll update everyone as soon as I can!
