Folks--
--- COUNTDOWN TO IWPS 2009: the organizers here in Berkeley are on time, and under-budget! All our venues are booked. We have over a dozen FREE events during the tournament, with world-class emcees and facilitators. People went crazy when we made our presentation at the Slam Family meeting last weekend in Florida! This is going to be the biggest, best attended, and most competitive Indi World Slam ever!
--- Poets who competed at a registered venue get first dibs. But if you’re NOT representing a regular slam, you can still apply. There are always slots held open for ‘storm poets’ who don’t have a slam in their home town. And in the past, there have always been a few open slots for whomever. But this year, we’re expecting a crush of qualified poets, so don’t delay! Please check our website, as we’ve done a lot of work to post information and FAQ’s that poets may have about the event.
http://iwps.poetryslam.com/-- Registration opens this Friday, Aug 14. Please go to
http://www.poetryslam.com and follow links to the Store, then to "PSI Signup". If you are representing a certified regular slam event, then you can just pay for registration. The link to register won't appear until Friday, however! If your slam is not certified, you'll need to start by certifying your venue before you can register a poet. If you're not representing a venue, you can just pay to register and (hopefully) get one of the "Storm Poet" slots. If you miss out on those (there's only 12) then you'll have to wait wait in line to see if all the slots for certified venues get filled or not. If not, then you're in! If they do, you're stuck on the waiting list. So basically, you're MUCH better off winning your local certified slam.
See you at tha BIG slam!
