General List of Major Slam Poetry Events, Qualified & Unqualified

I believe this has been asked before, but I did a search & didn't find anything..

I'm trying to find a general list of larger events beyond the PSI-managed dates. Not really win2&UrIn events (unless they're awesome), but Rust Belt Regionals, Southern Fried, West Coast Regionals (i know, I know, may not happen), SW Shootout, the Plains Poetry Pile-up, LEAF, College Union, Youth Speaks, Urban Word, things like that. I don't care if they are "qualifiers" or not; "official" or not.

Just look for where & roughly when my family gathers.   Who'd I miss?

We've done an annual W&YI, Treetop Poetry Slam Festival (Flagstaff, AZ), that's considered a regional thing and we've added an Individual competition this year. It happens usually in March.

We've had a reasonably sizable NorthBEAST gathering in New England the last two Octobers. I'm expecting a similar event this fall.

I don't think it's too early to announce this:  As part of my long-running effort to make the Tucson Poetry Festival cool again, the 2010 Festival (first weekend in April) is gonna kick off with a big-ass cash slam.  Y'all are invited!

Louder Than a Bomb is the Chicago Teen Poetry Festival. From what i hear, it's bigger than the youth nationals. I think they had 56 teams this year.

Denver has hosted a team Regional the last 3 or 4 summers called the 40oz...the weekend closest to 4th of July...we will likely be organizing again this year...past teams have included, ABQ, Denver Merc, SlamNuba, Denver Minor Disturbance, Omaha, Boise, Salt Lake City, 4 Corners, and Colorado Springs...I vow that there will be a trophy again this year, just gotta find someone to drink the beer...probably Ken Arkind.

West Coast Regionals IS happening - stay tuned for details. I can't say much but I can say it's not in Big Sur this year. It'll be a whole different kind of trees  that's in the summer, july right before nat's.

There's also The New Word Series out here. it _is_ a w&yi tourney on the first day but we also include youth and collegiate teams (in their own bracket). that one's in the fall, we're shootin for 12-16 teams this year.

the youth speaks finals which is coming up in the next couple of weeks.  the living word festival (YS's big show) is in october the 10 days after iwps in sf/oak. oh yeah, there's litquake too - that's the week before iwps in sf.
